Our Beloved Halley, aka "Beaner"

Thanks for visiting Beaner's memorial site.  Beaner was a darling 14 1/2 year old miniature dachsund who went to the Rainbow Bridge on July 13, 2000 after a wonderful long life in the country.  Beaner was my child and my best friend.  I  lovingly built her this memorial site so that I will never forget the joy she brought me during her time on earth.  I plan to visit this site daily to keep her image vivid in my memory until I join her one day on the Rainbow Bridge.  Please join me in a celebration of Beaner's life on earth, so that she will be forever eternalized in all of our hearts.

Beaner's official name was Halley but we called her Beaner for most of her life.  She was born in the year of Halley's comet in 1986, so I thought the name was fitting.  When we moved to a town called Lima, we began to call her the "Lima Bean Weenie" and her nickname eventually evolved into just plain old "Beaner."  She was quite an ornerly little character and the name was perfect for her.

Beaner was blessed to have lived on a farm for most of her life.  She loved to explore in my flower and vegetable gardens and steal tomatoes off of the vine when she thought I wasn't looking.  The reality is that I was always looking.  I spent 14 1/2 years protecting her to make sure she stayed out of harm's way.  I guess I thought if I always kept a watchful eye that she would be around forever.  It sure is lonely on the farm  without Beaner.  I'm sure that life around here will never be quite the same.

Beaner is at rest behind the garden she loved best, next to the campfire so that everytime we camp out we will remember her and she will be close to us.  I will never move from this place.   Her first two nights away from us we built a fire and slept out there with her so she wouldn't be alone.  We kept the fire burning for her all weekend.  Her memory will burn on into eternity.

Update 2/26/2001:  Our beloved Ollie went to the Rainbow Bridge today.  We'll miss him here on earth, but he's having a pretty jolly olly ole time!  He just wants everyone to know how great it is in the great beyond.  Click here and he'll give you a tour! He and Beaner are together now!

God's Garden
