Baby Orphan Nettie

aka "White Thing"

Meet Nettie, a little orphan puppy that I found last summer cowering underneath the shelf in my garden shed.  I have no idea how she got here, but I'm sure glad she found me.  My husband P wanted to take her to the pound because we already had two dogs, Beaner and Rondo, but I just couldn't.   I've heard that 60% of animals at shelters never get adopted and well, you can just imagine what that must mean.  She was so timid and shy, it took me 15 minutes to coax her out, poor terrified little baby.  I just knew nobody would adopt her and that my farm would be the perfect place for her to grow up.

Until we knew she was really ours, we just referred to her as that "White Thing."  Of course, now she's officially ours but we still call her White Thing (or W.T. for short) just because, well, that's what she is.

Oh my gosh, where am I?
And who are those scary humans?

Maybe if I smile real
pretty they'll let me stay...

This orphan business  is wearing me out!
I hope nobody cares if I steal a little nap on this cement block...

I know!  Maybe if I pretend like I'm a bunny,
nobody will notice me hangin' around...

Oh please, won't somebody play with me?

Well, I'm a little bigger now...
Maybe my polar bear imitation will win some hearts.

I'm 15 months old now and I'm the best watchdog my humans
could ever have hoped for.   I have the run of the place and you don't want
to step foot into my territory unless my humans say it's ok first.

They always give me special treats for guarding the farm!
