Hi, I'm Ollie, and I'm a brand new Angel weenie. You know, I was a regular weenie for almost 14 years and continually heard humans ponder the same question every time one of us went to the Rainbow Bridge, "What really happens when a weenie goes to heaven?" They just all seemed so sad about the whole deal. Well, I got here and found out what it's really like and thought to myself, "why all the commotion? This place is G-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-e-a-t!" So come on folks, wipe yer noses and dry yer eyes. Pull up a comfy chair, prop your feet up, and let me give you the inside scoop and the million dollar tour!
First, let me tell you, I'm feeling just terrific these days. I'd almost forgotten what it was like to feel like a puppy, with the boundless energy and the good teeth :) I'm just getting used to this new concept of sportin' wings, and these things are just way too cool. Beaner took me out on a flying lesson yesterday, and we zoomed down to earth and made a few choice stops in no time flat! Beaner likes to visit as a butterfly, but me, I'm definitely a bird, it just really suits me! This is so much fun!
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Okay, let me back up for just a second. I was so excited I got ahead of myself! The training program here is awesome. When you first get here, before they give you your "official" wings, they put you on a big raft to help you get used to that light, airy, floating feeling. Many new Angel Weenies don't have the advantage I did, Mom and Dad having a pool and all, so I picked it up pretty quick. This way, you know what to expect before you go out on the clouds solo the first time. And the view from the raft was just heavenly! I could see Frazeysburg and Mom and Dad's house clear as a bell! Beaner and I are going to practice diving into the pool from here once the weather down there gets a little warmer! Oh, and we thought we'd wait until Dad filled it, too!
There's this wonderful place up here called the Rainbow Room and it is filled with flowers and has a huge bridge with a great view of earth. Angels whose humans aren't here yet have exclusive access to this room. We have a special door that lets us fly back and forth between the Rainbow section and the Cloud section. As a matter of fact, that's where I first spotted Beaner, sitting on the bridge underneath the Rainbow, sprinkling "spring startin' seeds" down on Aunt Amy and Uncle P's garden. How else did you think spring got started, for heaven's sake? She was soooo happy to see me! She's actually been calling me to come up here for about 6 months, so I can see why she was getting pretty impatient.
There's this really nice man here who lets us all call him "Grandpa," and he lets all of the Angel Weenies sit on his lap at the same time. You should see us all pile 10 miles high! He is so funny! I heard him tell one of the other Angel Weenies, Casey, that if he didn't quit flying around his head so fast that he was going to "put him in the oven." I wasn't sure quite what that meant, and when I asked Casey he said you almost "had to be there." Grandpa has a big cozy place in the Cloud section and he lets us all cuddle up next to him every night.
Oh, and just look at this little angel girl-weenie, would you? Samantha is Beaner's best friend here on the bridge, and the three of us have had so much fun together since I got here! Sam was pretty mortified that we took this picture of her without her wings, but I think she looks just beautiful. There are some really great Angel Weenies up here, to be sure! Sammie's mom, Jan is a real good friend of my Mom and Aunt Amy's, and she asked me to let her Mom know that we're all doing great and taking care of each other. Hi Aunt Jan!
Okay, and for those weenies still down on earth, here's the answer to the most important question of all. YES, THERE ARE BANKIES HERE!! Fluffy bankies, and lots of them!!! Why, there are bankies of every color, shape, texture and size imaginable! I'm telling you, it's a weenie's paradise!
Hey... maybe that's why they call it heaven!!
Finally, at long last....now this is paradise!

They will not go quietly,
the dogs who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear barking at the door
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them...
and always will.
Special message from Ollie: Mom and Dad, thanks for the poem. I know I will always live on in your hearts. I love you so much and it doesn't end here! I had a great life down there! I'll be fluttering around in your gardens, and close to your hearts, into eternity.
Please don't be sad, I am so very happy now! And I'm saving you a really nice spot in the Cloud section!
See you soon!
Love, Ollie
