Welcome
to a Tour of Amy's Garden,
hosted by your tour guidess, "Beaner."
dachshund
network |
Meet Halley, my 14 year old miniature dachshund, who
shares my passion for gardening. She just loves to explore in the
foliage. When we first moved near a city called Lima, we dubbed her the "Lima
Bean Weenie," and over the years her nickname was conveniently shortened to "Beaner" or sometimes even "Bean."
The nickname was so fitting that it just kind of stuck. The "Beaner"
is quite a little character. Someday I might even tell you about the day she
actually caught a live squirrel (just ask my sister, Marie!)
I hope you will find Beaner
an enchanting hostess as she shows you around the yard! Look closely, because she
appears in each picture... she's a chameleon weenie and does have a tendency to
blend! After you take the tour be sure to check out the great links to other dachsie
sites on the web listed at the bottom of this page! |

I just love this part of the garden. There's not much in bloom
yet but there's lots of good things to hunt down here! |

Here's a view of my humans' vegetable garden in early
spring.
There's not much coming up yet but I do love peas! (I am a Bean,
after all!) |

Well, it's late summer now and there's lots of good things to
eat out here.
Hmm, I wonder if my humans can see me from up there.
They haven't mowed the lawn yet so I might just get away with it....

| Canine Carrot Cake |
1 Cup whole-wheat flour
1 tsp. soy flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup chopped peanuts
1 egg
1/4 cup oil
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/3 cup honey
1 cup ground or grated carrots In large bowl, combine
flours, baking soda, peanuts. Mix in egg, oil, vanilla, honey and carrots until
well-combined. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Pour batter into an 9-inch-square cake pan and
bake 15-20 minutes, or until done. Makes 1 cake. (I make mine into either cupcakes OR I
purchased the little Mini-loaf pans works GREAT!) |

What the heck, sometimes a weenie's just gotta go for it.
Those tomatoes just look too good and I've worked up one heck of an appetite. |

2-3 oz. of plain yogurt (use non-fat), and 2 ozs water. Process till smooth and pour into
old frosty paws cups or something similar. Freeze and serve. This recipe fills about 3 FP
cups. |

SCORE!
Hopefully my humans will blame this on the squirrels again! |

After a long day in the garden, Beaner loves to cool off
with an icy brew. Unfortunately, it has a tendency to make her a
little "tipsy." She's a leanin' weenie! |
