I've tried to make windmill blades with my trace router.  I went as far as modifing the machine to make the table size large enough and put hand crank feeds on it so the path the router bit took was small for a finer finish.  The main problem is time.  It took almost a half day to make just one blade.  At that rate I could never make it profitable to manufacture these.  My solution, go CNC.

I managed to find a CNC router that was poorly listed on eBay at a rediculously low price, and only two hours drive from my house.  The machine barely fit into the back of my son's large truck.  I had to line up a forklift to get it off and into my workshop.  My first thought was to enlarge the cutting area for my blade project.  But of course I need to get it working first.  The existing computer and software need upgrades, and the three axis have NO limit switches.

The software that I have picked out is Mach3 with SheetCAM.  The current workspace size is X=13.00, Y=6.00, Z= 3.5.  Not bad, but very small for my needs.
